Bringing visual art to Minnesota Fringe Festival audiences for the fourth consecutive year, applications to participate in the 2004 Visible Fringe are now available online at www.fringefestival.org.

Applications are due to the Minnesota Fringe office by Thursday, April 1, 2004. Edgy and raw, featuring both self-taught and traditionally-trained artists, the Visible Fringe displays saleable artwork throughout the ten days of the Fringe. The Visible Fringe is a curated exhibit and open to any visual artist living and working in Minnesota; Yuri Arajs, Executive Director of Outsiders and Others Gallery, chairs this year’s Curatorial Committee.

Each of the 20 selected artists will have the opportunity to show a series of work, along with other participating artists, throughout the run of the Fringe. All Visible Fringe artists will be featured on the popular Fringe website, in a full-color limited Visible Fringe poster and on a special pull-out section of the official Minnesota Fringe Festival program.

In addition, Fringe audience members, fellow artists and local media participate in the annual Fringe “Best Of” awards, voting in categories for both the performing and visual arts at the end of the Fringe. The Minnesota Fringe Festival celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2003 with a 28% increase in audience attendance and a record 40,800 tickets to over 780 performances of 162 shows. The ten-day indoor performance and visual arts festival continues as one of the top summer events in the Twin Cities. This year it runs August 6 – 15.
